Aadhaar Link to your bank account- Here is how you can do it
Have you recently been inundated with your bank sending you multiple SMS messages to complete your Aadhaar link to bank account? This is because the Indian government has made it mandatory for every bank account in the country to be linked with the account holder’s Aadhaar number. Banks have also been directed to deactivate bank accounts that are not linked to the Aadhaar number.
Luckily, bank account holders now have multiple ways to complete this Aadhaar link procedure. If you want to link your Aadhaar Card to your Bank account, you can do so by both online and offline means.
Using Internet banking
If you are already availing of Internet banking facilities with your bank, you can log into your banking account and complete the Aadhaar link to bank account steps online.
Depending on which bank operates your account, the procedure may differ but can be completed quickly by entering a few details such as your Aadhaar number and your mobile number. Once you have submitted the online request, the bank verifies your entered details and sends its confirmation or status either through SMS and E-mail.
Using Mobile banking
Leading banks in India are providing their customers with the facility of accessing their bank account through a smartphone banking app.
Just like Internet banking, you can access your mobile banking app to complete your Aadhaar link to bank account.
Visiting your bank branch
If you do not want to use any online or electronic way to complete your Aadhaar card linking, you can do it by filling and submitting your Aadhaar linking application form at your bank branch.
You can either collect the bank-specific form from the bank branch or download it from their official website. Along with specifying your Aadhaar card number, you may need to specify your bank account number and attach a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card.
Some Indian banks allow their customers to complete their Aadhaar link process using SMS. This can be done if your mobile number is registered with the bank.
If your bank supports this mode, you need to send the SMS in a specific format (as prescribed by your bank) with your Aadhaar number and bank account number. Most banks will also use the SMS mode to update you on your Aadhaar bank link status.
Using the ATM
Some banks also allow you to complete your Aadhaar linking by swiping your bank’s ATM card at any of the bank’s ATM outlets.
With multiple avenues available to customers, linking the Aadhaar card to the Bank account is no longer a long-drawn-out process which you need to worry about. Simply pick the option which suits you best, and complete this important task on time.
