There are numerous reasons for rejection, in some cases, there may be discrepancies in the information given in the PAN card application or in the documents submission This issue is not only seen amongst individuals, even agencies, companies and trusts face this issue. Here are the most common reasons why your PAN card application could get rejected.

Incorrect information in the PAN card application form

Form 49A / Form 49AA needs to be filled by the applicant for PAN card. New PAN form can be downloaded from the official site. You need to fill in personal information such as name, age, gender, address and etc in the designated columns. Providing wrong information in the PAN card application may lead to rejection of your application. In some circumstances, the information provided by you may be different from the information in the ID proof which leads to application non-acceptance. For instance, your name in the application has a different spelling than the spelling in your identity proof.

Incorrect information in the supporting documents

While you apply for a PAN card, you must also ensure that the supporting identity proofs are correct. In case, if there are any discrepancies in the identity proof documents or if there is no clear information for the officers to identify these as valid proofs then there is a higher chance for rejection of your application.

Apart from these deviations, there are some points that you should keep in your mind to avoid rejection of your PAN card application. Listed below are the necessary guidelines:

  1.    Make sure you fill in correct address details including the PIN code because several people forget to enclose PIN code details of your place. Without proper PIN code details, your application form will be rejected, since PAN card is dispatched by the post.
  2.    Ensure you enter the correct ISD or STD codes if you are providing your landline number. Likewise, your mobile numbers also should contain country codes. Because it makes the task easy for the PAN application form processing authorities to contact PAN card applicants in case of any clarifications.
  3.    Enclose correct supporting documents. You need to provide three sets of document proofs for processing a PAN card application. The first one is your identity proof, the second one is address proof for dispatching your PAN card and the third mandatory document is age proof.  To avoid discrepancies in your identity proof documents, you need to go through the list of valid proof documents that are required and then choose the correct one which is available with you. This task becomes easier if you apply PAN online because you will be able to submit it after all mandatory fields are filled.
  4. Writing in clear block letters avoids confusion for the authorities. Also, make sure that all mandatory fields are filled to avoid rejection of PAN card application.

Once you submit the application form, the verification process will be done by the authorities and you will be provided with the authentication number that is used to track PAN application status. After all process, you will receive PAN card through post.
