Know All About the Indian Passport Charges

 

Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India issues an Indian Passport to all its citizens who
wish to travel overseas. Though an Indian Passport does not guarantee the citizen’s entry to
any particular country of travel, it is an authentic document which confirms the citizen’s country
of origin and nationality. The Indian Passport charges vary with the categories under which it is
requested for. Read on to know more on them.

Indian Passports are of three types. They are, Type P or Ordinary passport for citizens travelling
overseas; Type S or official passport for Government officials travelling overseas and Type D or
Diplomatic Passport for Diplomats or VVIP’s. However, the passport application fee, applicable
under Indian Passport charges may vary, not with respect to the type of passport, but with
respect to the type of service requested and whether it is on a regular of Tatkal basis.
The Indian Passport charges also vary with respect to the number of leaflets or pages
requested in a passbook booklet. Normally, a passport is issued as a 36 page or a 60 page
booklet. Let’s take a closer look

Regular Process or Normal Passport Fees.
A) For a 36 page booklet
 New or Fresh Passport with validity for 10 years : Rs.1500/-
 Renewal of Passport with validity for 10 years: Rs.1500/-
 Adding an additional booklet with validity for 10 years: Rs.1500/-
 Minors aged between 15-18 years( Fresh/Renewal/Re-issue with validity for
10 years: Rs.1500/-
 Minors(Fresh/Renewal/Re-issue) with a validity for 5 years: Rs.1000/-
 Duplicate or replacing a passport for reasons like lost, stolen or damaged:
Rs. 3000/-
 Duplicate or replacing a passport for reasons like updating or removal of
personal information and ECNR status updating:Rs.1500/-

B) For a 60 page booklet
 New or Fresh Passport with validity for 10 years : Rs.2000/-
 Renewal of Passport with validity for 10 years: Rs.2000/-
 Adding an additional booklet with validity for 10 years: Rs.2000/-
 Minors aged between 15-18 years( Fresh/Renewal/Re-issue with validity for
10 years: Rs.2000/-
 Minors(Fresh/Renewal/Re-issue) with a validity for 5 years: — — — —
 Duplicate or replacing a passport for reasons like lost, stolen or damaged:
Rs. 3500/-

 Duplicate or replacing a passport for reasons like updating or removal of
personal information and ECNR status updating:Rs.2000/-

Under Tatkal Process,
C) For a 36 page booklet
