PAN Correction & Mistakes to be Avoided while applying for PAN

Pan Card is a very important document that works as an identification tool. Applicant should take proper attention and care while filling up the form. But sometimes mistake may occur. Don’t worry, you can do your pan correction online through its official portal.

Some Common Mistakes 

Incorrect Signature

Applicant’s signature is one of the most important thing while applying for a Pan card. Applicant will have to sign on two paces:

  • Across the photo
  • In the blank space given below.

The applicant should not sign anywhere else except the given areas.

Signing in Blue Ink

All the Government identity forms are require to be signed in black ink. It is very essential to stick to the rules. If you sign in with blue pen then the application will become invalid.

Using Initials

The Income Tax Department does not accept initials. They advise to use full names instead of initials. If you have a initials then don’t write down the same on your application form. You should use only your full name.

Scanned copies of photos

PAN card application requires two passport sized photos. But many people attach scanned copies of their photos and that is a mistake. As scanned photos are not that clear, it may cause identification problem. Applicant should use only original recent photos.


PAN Correction – How to Correct PAN Card Mistakes

You should always double check while applying for new PAN card. If you give any wrong information or an unclear signature or a scanned photo then it may cause problems to your Pan application. To rectify that Pan Data change service is available.

  • Go to the official website of the PAN IT department
  • Click on “Online Application for Changes or Correction in PAN Data”.
  • Scroll down on and select the required field.
  • “Request for New PAN Card Changes or Correction in PAN Data”
  • Make necessary pan data correction carefully and crosscheck the pan data change.
  • Click on ‘Submit’
  • You will get an acknowledgement after the specified pan card correction fees payment
  • Download the acknowledgement for further reference.
