Methods to carry out your PF status check
It is extremely beneficial to keep a frequent tab on your EPF account transactions when it comes to the Employers contributions, withdrawals and your constant account balance. An EPF account can stay constant even if you change jobs. Hence, staying updated about the transfer and ensuring a smooth working of your Provident Fund account will serve you a long way regarding valuable savings.
There are many ways on how to check PF status. Here we take a quick look at five such methods.
- Regular monthly SMS alerts by EPFO
Every EPF account holder owns a unique UAN (Universal Account number) which is the ultimate key for availing almost all EPFO services. For knowing your PF status, UAN activation is a must. You can activate the UAN at the Unified Members Portal by going to https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
This process requires you to register your mobile number which will be used by the EPF Organization or EPFO to send you regular SMS alerts. Similar to bank alerts, you will receive an SMS whenever a transaction takes place, and this is the most convenient way to track PF status.
- How to check PF status online at the EPFO portal
If your UAN is activated and you are a registered member of the UAN members portal of the EPFO, you can simply log in using your Username and password to make an online EPF status check. You can view and download your EPF account passbook and track PF status by logging in at https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp.
- By Giving a missed call
In case you are having trouble receiving SMSes or going online, you can also give a missed call to the toll-free number― 011 2290 1406 to check your PF status. Within a few minutes, you will receive an SMS from the EPF Organization, informing you of your latest EPF balance and some other account details.
- By Sending an SMS
If your UAN is activated and your Aadhar/PAN/Bank account number is linked to your EPF account, another easy-peasy way to run a quick PF status check is by sending an SMS. In situations when you are unable to make a call from your mobile phone, send an SMS to 7738 299 899. Make sure you follow the format of the SMS correctly, which is-
EPFOHO UAN <LAN> , where the <LAN> is the first three letters of your preferred language. For example, to know your PF status in English, you should type EPFOHO UAN ENG in the SMS. This service is available in 10 languages―English, Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali.
- Through the mobile app
The UMANG mobile app, available at the Google Playstore, provides a wide range of EPFO services. One amongst which is PF status check. You can also view and download your EPF passbook by using the app.
You are now well equipped with a handful of solutions by now. Keep your KYC, your mobile number and other details updated when they change, to avoid any troubles in your PF status checks.
