One of the most important documents in the country, a Permanent Account Number (PAN) is something that is mandatory for every taxpayer. The document has simplified the over complex taxation system for the government, providing relevant information and transparency in financial matters. Pan card fees and charges in India
Applicants residing within the country need to pay a Pan card fee of Rs 110, which includes a processing fee of Rs 93 plus Goods & Service tax to the tune of 18.00%. The government has imposed a uniformity on all pan card application fees which have a communication address within the country. The pan card application fees can vary on modes of payment though.
Fees for pan card changes online
It is now possible for people to get the Pan card changes done online. It could be a case of duplicate pan card charges or even in the existing pan card. In such cases, an individual will have to pay a fee of Rs.110 (processing fee of Rs.93 plus 18% Goods & service tax). This fee is applicable only if the communication address is within India. The pan card fees varies overseas.
New pan card fees and charges- Outside India
The government charges a fee of Rs 1020.00 [ (Application fee Rs.93.00 + Dispatch Charges Rs. 771.00) + 18.00% Goods & Service tax] to process and dispatch the PAN card to entities with a communication address outside India.
Mode of payments for pan card charges
- Within India – Individuals within Indian Territory can pay via Credit/Debit cards, Demand Drafts or through Net Banking. Payment through Debit/Credit cards will attract an additional charge of up to 2% on the application fee, generally charged by the bank. The bank could also impose applicable taxes over and above the fee charged for a PAN. Payment by Demand Drafts is accepted only if the DD is in favor of “NSDL PAN”, payable at Mumbai. Payment through Net Banking will attract a surcharge of Rs.4 plus service tax, to be borne by an applicant.
- Outside India – Individuals outside India can pay the PAN card fees either through Credit/Debit card or Demand Drafts. The DD should be in favor of “NSDL – PAN”, payable only in Mumbai. Payment by Credit or Debit card will attract additional bank imposed charges to the tune of 2% plus service tax.
Status of PAN card fees refund
There are chances for the PAN application to be rejected, In this case, applicants should remember that there is no provision for a Pan card fee refund and that they can reapply for the PAN by correcting the wrong information, using the same payment details with another pan card application fees.
